Juan is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in London. He has been medical lead for the Match-Day Doctor service for Return2Play since 2022
Juan has been involved in providing acute medical care for rugby, football, athletics, baseball, gymnastics, ice hockey, rowing, swimming, diving and pentathlon athletes, at all levels from school grade to elite professionals, in the UK and at international competitions.
He has also worked as a Sports Doctor for Major League Baseball, British Rowing, British Gymnastics and British University Sport. He Chief Medical Officer for the 2022 World Coastal Rowing Championships in Saundersfoot and for the 2023 World Championships Modern Pentathlon. He is currently working as Chief Medical Officer for GB Students and British University Sport in preparation for the 2025 World Summer University Games in Germany.
His medical training was based in Caracas, Venezuela, and worked there as a general and emergency physician before coming to the UK. He qualified as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in 2021, having worked in multiple sites in Greater London and East of England, and has completed postgraduate training in Sports and Exercise Medicine as well as Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.
